Elegant in its form and quietly expressive in its finish, this Miniature Bronze Tiny Hand-Thrown Vase is a refined study in scale, craftsmanship, and simplicity. Standing at roughly 2 inches tall, this petite vessel evokes the essence of fine pottery in a reduced form, making it a striking accent piece for collectors, minimalists, or anyone seeking beauty in small, intentional objects.
Thrown by hand on a potter’s wheel in a single continuous motion, the vase is formed from high-quality stoneware clay and finished in a rich bronze glaze. The glaze has subtle metallic undertones that shift slightly depending on the light and angle, giving the surface a warm, weathered depth that echoes aged metal while maintaining the softness of ceramic.
This piece is part of a limited series of small-batch miniatures from Sarah Welch Pottery, where form, texture, and material are carefully balanced to create everyday heirlooms. These miniatures are often the result of studio exploration — small-scale pieces that allow for testing glazes, forms, and decorative techniques with a high degree of control.
One hand-thrown miniature vase
Finished in metallic-bronze glaze with subtle variation and layering
Fired to cone 6 (~2230°F) in an electric kiln
Interior glazed, watertight and functional for small dried arrangements
Base is unglazed and sanded smooth
Please note that due to the hand-thrown nature of the work, subtle variations in form and surface texture are to be expected and are part of what makes each piece one-of-a-kind.
Though small in size, this vase brings visual weight and sculptural presence to any shelf, desk, or windowsill. It’s an ideal candidate for:
Display as part of a ceramic miniature collection
Use in a dollhouse or diorama with an eye for realism
Holding a single dried flower stem or tiny bud
Works as a small gift for 8th, 9th and 19th year wedding anniversaries
Gifting to ceramic lovers, especially those who appreciate small-scale pottery
Its compact size also makes it the perfect object to travel with — either as a meaningful souvenir or as part of a growing collection of small handmade objects that tell a story of place and care.
Each vase begins as a lump of clay on the wheel. Because the form is so small, the throwing process requires steady hands, a centered mind, and deliberate restraint. Unlike large pieces that allow for some correction as the form rises, miniatures like this require precise muscle memory and a delicate touch.
After drying, each piece is bisque-fired, glazed with hand-mixed studio glazes, and fired again to maturity. Once cooled, the base is sanded smooth.
This vase is glazed and watetight and works well for both dried and fresh flower arrangements. Works well as a mommy pot, where little hands pick wildflower bouquets. You can clean it with mild soap by hand or in dish wahser. Avoid exposing it to extreme temperature changes or rough handling, as the thin ceramic walls are fragile.
This vase ships in fully recyclable, eco-conscious packaging with plenty of padding to ensure safe arrival. Orders usually ship within 3–5 business days. If you’re sending it as a gift, feel free to include a note and we’ll handwrite it on your behalf.
