Our Mini of the Month is a creative dive into miniature pottery – each month reveals new possibilities
This are the miniatures I have made as part of the ‘Miniature of the Month” collection. I plan to make a new mini design for each month, 12 different design a year. I will make a batch of 30-50 pieces for each design. These will be a limited edition – so once they are gone that is it! I will create a listing for each design that will be available until that style is sold out. This is a fun way for miniature collectors to get some new beauties and for me to try out some new ideas that may be hard to repeat.

Each Tiny Mommy Pot is made completely by hand. Beginning with a large ball of stoneware clay, the little pots are thrown in the very to in a technique called ‘throwing off the hump”. Once shaped and trimmed, it’s left to dry fully before undergoing a bisque firing, which prepares it for glazing. Each style is carefully match with the color combination that will best enhance the individual form of the miniature.
This “Mini of the Month” series highlights a different form each month, each with a unique story, glaze, and seasonal feeling. January’s Tiny Mommy Pot is about reflection, grounded beginnings, and inner warmth—small pot, big heart.
Like all of our work, this piece is handmade at Sarah Welch Pottery, a family-run studio in the small, high-desert town of Jaroso, Colorado. Founded by ceramic artist Sarah Welch more than two decades ago, the studio has grown from a one-woman operation into a thriving, heart-led pottery business.
Every month, we release new minis as part of our ongoing creative exploration and celebration of form. Each item, whether functional or decorative, is made with the same care, intention, and love. Our studio blends tradition with experimentation, and our Etsy shop is where you can explore our full range of work.
Due to the handcrafted nature of this item, each pot will vary slightly in size, shape, and glaze flow. These variations are not imperfections—they’re marks of authenticity, signaling that no two pieces are exactly alike. Your Mini of the Month is yours alone.
