Handmade stoneware germination plate with a round form and satin glaze, designed to rest on jars for propagation. Available solo or with dish and glass. Handcrafted in Colorado.
These little pottery germination plates are both lovely to the eye and a useful way to propagate plants. We put a variety plants in these including: flower bulbs, avocado pits, small plant cuttings, succulents, herbs and any plant that grows in water. Just place the plate on the glass or jar of your choice, fill it with water, put the plant in and watch it grow! It is a fun and beautiful to watch the roots grow through the glass. It is like a living piece of art for your room.
You can purchase just the propagation plate, or we also have the option to add a matching pottery drip dish and a glass for the water. I highly recommend the drip dish to protect surfaces from spills when watering.

Each propagation plate begins as liquid stoneware clay slip (with our own recipe), hand-poured into our own custom studio molds. Once the form is set, we trim and finish the piece by hand before bisque firing. Afterward, it’s dipped in our lead-free glazes and fired again to over 2,200°F—locking in durability and creating the smooth surface finish.
This method—slip casting—allows us to produce functional, elegant objects while honoring the handmade nature of each piece. Unlike mass production or commercial molds, our casting process is done entirely in-house with clay bodies we mix ourselves.

Because each germination plate is handmade, small variations in color, surface texture, and dimensions are natural and expected. These differences are not flaws—they are part of what makes every piece one-of-a-kind and a reflection of the human hands that shaped it.
