Our Process

At Sarah Welch Pottery, we hand form, trim, glaze, and fire every mug in-house—no outsourcing, no shortcuts. The raised dots are applied using a raised slip technique, which gives them a unique texture and sheen.

Each mug goes through multiple stages:

• Slip-casted
• Bisque fired to prepare for glazing
• Hand-glazed and dotted
• Fired again to vitrification, resulting in a durable, functional mug

The result is a mug that feels handmade in every sense—imperfect in the best ways and full of care.
