Our Process: Clay, Glaze & Firing
Each piece begins with stoneware clay, mixed and prepared by hand in our small studio. The infuser and lid are hand cast and hand-trimmed for a smooth, balanced form. The holes in the infuser cup are individually pierced when the clay reaches the perfect leather-hard consistency, creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing pattern that filters even fine teas.
After an initial bisque firing, the infuser is glazed in a studio-formulated palette. We offer a variety of color options, that match our mugs. If you would like a color that is not offered. please contact us. We can only use our own glazes that we have in our shop.
Handmade in Jaroso, Colorado
Each ceramic tea infuser is made by hand at Sarah Welch Pottery, a small family-run studio nestled in the high desert of the San Luis Valley. What began over 25 years ago as a one-woman operation has grown into a beloved and nationally known pottery business, guided by the same orginal values of intentional craft, lasting design, and heartfelt service.
Sarah Welch, a ceramic artist with a degree in fine art and a deep connection to form and texture, brings a sense of calm and presence to her work. Alongside her family and a small team of skilled assitants, she continues to make pottery that’s meant to be used every day—and loved for a lifetime.

Disclaimer: Each Piece is Unique
Because every infuser is handmade, subtle variations in glaze color, shape, or hole placement will naturally occur. These slight differences are part of the charm and authenticity of studio pottery. When you order from us, you’re receiving a one-of-a-kind piece, made with care and intention from start to finish.
