Whether you’re knitting on the couch, crocheting in your studio, or tucking your project into a cozy corner, this handmade yarn bowl brings both beauty and functionality to your creative practice. Each knitting bowl is carefully handcrafted and glazed in our own rich glazes, this stoneware bowl is more than just a tool—it’s a piece of art that honors your time, your materials, and your craft.
Each yarn organizer is hand-carved with an integrated yarn guide slot, allowing you to thread your yarn through the swirl-shaped cutout to keep tension smooth and your ball of yarn contained. Multiple additional carved holes offer space for resting tools or feeding multiple strands.
Crafted from durable stoneware in our Colorado studio, this yarn bowl is designed to stay put on your table, weighted just enough to prevent tipping or sliding.

This yarn bowl is ideal for knitters and crocheters who want a clean, elegant way to manage yarn without sacrificing aesthetics. Whether you work with wool, cotton, or specialty threads, the carved channel gently guides the yarn out of the bowl as you work, helping maintain tension and reduce tangling. The carved holes are useful for:
Holding needles, hooks, or scissors
Running multiple yarn colors through simultaneously
Anchoring unused strands on a colorwork project
Simply as decorative accents when not in use
The base is flat and wide for stability, while the walls gently curve upward to cradle your yarn ball securely. The opening is large enough to accommodate most standard-sized yarn cakes or skeins. The knitting bowl’s interior is fully glazed and smooth for easy yarn movement.

Each yarn bowl is slightly different, and that’s what makes them special. The carved openings are done one at a time by hand, not laser-cut or cast, and the glaze reacts uniquely in every firing. Your bowl will be one-of-a-kind—an expression of utility, form, and the loving unpredictability of true pottery.
At Sarah Welch Pottery, we believe everyday tools should also be beautiful. Learn more about how we make your pieces here:
